Hey, Look! I’m Using a Pen!

[I'll admit, I've thought about doing this before, but I never 'got around to it.'

*Blogging by hand.* I finally saw it done today at Geek Mom.  Cool.  And now you can see my handwriting.  (Any graphologists out there?)

When I was in elementary school, the only 'C' I ever got was in handwriting.  It drove me nuts, bu there was seemingly nothing I could do about it.  I suspect now that it's related to the Sensory Processing Disorder.

Happily I type at well over 80wpm, so my handwriting isn't as important as it used to be.

People whose handwriting I envy:

*My sister
*My bestest friend

Both Heathers have lovely penmanship.

All of my high school & college notes were filled with doodles.  I think and receive/process info best when my hands are occupied...writing, doodling, knitting.

So, do you write by hand anymore?  I kind of miss it...especially old-fashioned letters.  If you could write a letter to anyone, who would it be?

Aimee]

I write quite a lot by hand. My calendar is the old fashioned spiral desk calendar. I tried the computer calendar and found it was not as portable as the grab and go one on the desk. I also think better with a pen or pencil in my hand. I hand write any journaling I do (rarely). I would probably be a more prolific blogger if I wrote them out first, but what a waste of time. I have to hand write in my creative writing class. Love it! Some hate it and even though many of them are 20+years older than I am, they use the computer to capture their writing. I really do not enjoy writing letters. I never can think of something witty or worthwhile to write. My mom used to write the most boring letters ever – weather reports mainly. She had many fine qualities – being a writer was not one of them, and unfortunately, I inherited that deficiency. I owe my HS friend Yvonne several letters. She only writes letters and does not communicate via email. I admire her and need to answer the beautiful letters I’ve gotten from her for the past 3 Christmases. Mind you, these are not form letters, but hand written, personal letters with beautiful descriptions of her travels – letters that the reader really wants to read.

I go through pens like a demon … my entire day involves handwriting. Jotting notes about my partner’s brainstorming, notes about cases, outlining arguments in front of the judge, scribbling furiously while on the phone with counsel … it’s a hand writing world I live in. I don’t know if you remember this, but I hand wrote all of my notes for my 3rd year of law school and for the bar exam. Many of my friends thought I was absolutely insane, but I’m sorry, after you hear two or three horror stories about power outages and computer malfunctions during the Bar, I was NOT willing to risk it. My performance in my classes improved and I passed the Bar. I’m a dyed-in-the-wool old school writer my friends. (I also use a paper monthly calendar .. there’s a tactile comfort to it that I just don’t get with Google calendar .. sorry, internets.) I’m sending you a picture of what my handwriting day looks like each day because I cna’t figure out how to post it here. Love you!

I love to write. I had the best notes in college. My classmates were in awe of my notes. I have tiny neat handwriting. Someday, I will have a book published. But, the original manuscript will probably be penned in a spiral notebook. I love when they go one sale for 10c at the beginning of the school year. AND I love colored ink pens.

    Oh Aimee.
That Blogging by hand idea is really great. I’ve never thought of that before.
I wonder what people will say with my penmanship.. I’m a very bad writer, very terrible handwriting I swear.

I love writing by hand. However, my hand goes numb really fast when I do it ever since getting really heavy. (Same thing happened when I was pregnant too) It’s so funny you posted a pic of your writing because I took notes while on the long bus ride to San Francisco recently and was planning to scan or photograph the actual hand written notes instead of typing them.

I love this idea! I think I might steal it for a Spin Cycle. What do you think? Would anybody do it? And your handwriting looks very nice to me. Wait ’til you see mine!
